Buy Gas on Mondays to Save Money

We spend a lot on gas. In June 2018, according to the AAA report, we spent $ 69 more on gas each month compared to last summer.

And for those of us who rely on Uber and Lyft as our only means of transportation, we’re not immune either. Last summer, faced with rising gasoline prices, drivers from both sharing programs signed a petition to both companies asking for help. Ultimately, these costs are borne by us as consumers.

With spring approaching (and gas prices are already on the rise ), what can you do to save money? GasBuddy research provided by USA Today found one easy way that will likely save you some money: refuel on Mondays on your way to the office.

According to GasBuddy , on average, Monday morning is the best time to refuel, when gas stations are usually quietest and thus prices are lowest (followed by Tuesdays). Later in the week, you are more likely to face higher and more volatile prices, as some gas stations are busiest on Fridays around 17:00.

It really depends on where you live. In general, weekends are a bad time to refuel, as gas station prices in some states peak during this time. (States like Utah are a rare exception – Sunday is the best day to relax there.)

Trying to avoid crazy gas prices near you? Here are the days when you should avoid pumping gas in every state, according to GasBuddy .

Saturday: Alabama, Connecticut, Hawaii, Kansas, Maine, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, Oregon, South Carolina, South Dakota

Sunday : Arkansas, California, Colorado, Delaware, Georgia, Iowa, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Wisconsin.

And while you wait for your car to refuel, why not stop by the shop at the station ?
