How to Liven up Gmail Smart Replies With Random Verses
Chrome: Not all hacks make you a productivity master. Some only need to make you happy and add a little joy (or confusion) to those you email. At least that’s the best way to describe the Chrome extension Suggested Verses for Gmail , a shiny little service that throws a literary bomb on Google’s usual suggested Gmail autoreplies.
The extension is pretty simple. Install it and Gmail will automatically reply, “Great!” or “Sounds good,” which is sometimes suggested at the bottom of emails you receive, turns into something much more interesting. As stated in the extension description:
“After installing this extension, the suggested responses in Gmail messages will be replaced with lines of poetry drawn from thousands of lines of poetry in the public domain.”
I told you it was easy. While you have no control over what is offered to you, some of the options can be pretty epic:
While I would not recommend using an extension for your work email, it will surely add a little fun to any communication you have with your friends. Perhaps the suggested line will have such an impact on you that you will be tempted to look for the source of the material. You will never know.
Google hasn’t officially endorsed the extension, but developer Chris Zubak-Skis has received praise from members of the Gmail team, including those directly involved in smart replies. Not bad!
