Learn Another Language While Watching Netflix With This App

Learning a new language is difficult. After eight years of learning French, I had a terrible failure in the language until I spent a month in the country using it regularly. There is something about seeing words and phrases used in context that makes them much easier to understand than just reading them in a textbook.

Lingvo is an app that lets you use Netflix, YouTube and Amazon Video to help you learn a language a little faster.

The service is actually a combination of a Chrome extension and a smartphone web app .

With it, you watch a movie in another language and with subtitles in that language through your browser using the Chrome extension.

Your phone will display the same subtitles at the same time. When you hear or see something that you don’t understand, you can tap on a word on your smartphone to get a quick definition without stopping the movie.

If you are fluent in the language then you can devote yourself entirely to watching an adult movie, but if you are just starting out, then a children’s program may be the perfect option to watch.

It is clear that you will need some knowledge of the language for this one to be very useful, but if you are learning the language and need a little help to get a feel for it better then this should be exactly what the doctor (or French teacher) ordered.
