See Someone’s Facebook and LinkedIn Information Directly in Gmail With This Extension
One of the features of a reporter is that you receive a significant amount of unwanted emails, often from people you don’t know. Discoverly is a Chrome extension that can help you understand strangers’ emails.
The Chrome extension scans social media and extracts information about people who send you mail, displaying it right in your inbox and giving you a more complete picture of who that person is before you reply.
For example, suppose someone named “Bob Smith” responds to an ad you posted about the sale of his old motorcycle. Next to the email, you will see that Bob is an accountant at a downtown firm and that you actually have seven mutual Facebook friends.
The service is capable of displaying a person’s work information as well as reciprocal connections and recent tweets from Gmail, effectively helping you validate that the person is who they say they are and allowing you to put them in context.
He also works on LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter.
LinkedIn: Find out if you have mutual friends and tweets on Facebook.
Facebook: LinkedIn information, reciprocal links, and tweets
Twitter: See LinkedIn information, reciprocal connections from Facebook and LinkedIn
The idea here is that you can better understand who you are talking to without having to do a ton of internet searches to get there. For example, knowing that you and Bob have many friends in common will make it easier for you to give him your address to pick up your bike.
Likewise, knowing that you have mutual friends with the person you are interviewing next week, or that they are tweeting a lot about climbing (your favorite!), Can help you connect with that person, which in otherwise, you wouldn’t have.
The more context you have, the better the email or interview will be.
