I’m a little sorry I didn’t know about this before, but it’s part of the fun with iOS: there is always some new random thing, like the ” how to move many apps in one gotrick that pops up on disgusting radar from time to time.

Here’s the deal. If you download a bunch of apps – either you’re crazy about the App Store, or there are tons of updates to apps already installed on your iPhone or iPad – you don’t have to sit around and let your device decide which app to download first.

The app you really want to use may be low in the download queue, but clicking Update All will make sure it is inactive and unusable until the update is complete. That or, as my colleague Virginia suggested, you might be about to lose your connection on the train or subway and want to make sure you can use your favorite app (or the app you just bought) while you’re not connected to the Internet.

If your device supports 3D Touch, simply press firmly on the greyed-out app to activate the context menu and tap on the Boot Priority option.

That’s all. Be sure to gloat when you’re around friends with non-3D Touch devices like the iPhone XR, as they wo n’t be able to interfere with their device’s download queue. (You might think that those without 3D Touch on their devices could just long press to activate the same context menu, butthat doesn’t seem to be the case .)
