What the Hell Is Going on With Brexit? Check Out These Flowcharts
Today is an important day for the Brexit negotiations. Members of Parliament are discussing a “no deal” exit, a plan that would have the UK leave the EU on March 29 without any formal organization or coordination between the two organizations. If that happens, it will almost certainly cause economic chaos, not only in the UK and Europe, but around the world.
Unfortunately, if you are not well versed in British parliamentary sessions, it can be extremely difficult to keep up with Brexit. For those of us looking for an explanation as simple as possible, the BBC has created a series of helpful flowcharts to answer all or most of our questions. This lays out the possible outcomes of today’s vote:
In fact, if parliament blocks a “no deal” exit today, they will have to vote tomorrow to postpone Brexit until an agreement is reached with the EU. But if they vote for “No deal” today or against tomorrow’s deferral, the UK will exit the EU by March 29 without a deal. If parliament manages to block a No Deal exit and postpone negotiations, there are at least seven possible Brexit scenarios to face, but don’t worry, there are block diagrams for those too.
