How to Access Slack’s Secret Dark Mode on IOS and Android
If I could, I would use all my phone apps in dark or night mode. Night mode is easier on the eyes and saves battery power. Slack is now finally testing dark mode for its iOS and Android apps.
Dark Mode is not officially part of the apps in use yet, and is instead currently exclusively available to members of the Slack beta program. The good news is that you can join this program right now and access this feature.
To do this on iOS you need to go to this page , and on Android this one (which will direct you to Google Play). Note. It may take several hours between the moment of registration and actual admission to participation in the program. It took me about 10 minutes for the new version of Slack to appear in the Play Store.
After you sign in, you will need to update the app to enter the beta testing program. Then you will see a dark mode option under the General tab in the settings menu. From there, you can turn this feature on and off. If you have done all this and cannot see, try restarting the application.
It’s also worth noting that switching between modes requires restarting the app, so this is what you want to do when you have a little time, not while talking to your boss.
