How to Dim Your IPhone More Than You Thought
The brightness of the iPhone is not low enough. In pitch darkness, even the dimmest light can be too bright. But you can dim the dimmest iPhone setting even dimmer thanks to the advice of redditor manawesome326 . We’ll go over this step by step.
Go to the Settings app and search for Reduce White Point. Or click General> Accessibility, scroll down to Accessibility Shortcut, and select the Decrease White Point check box. Now, when you press the Home button three times, your screen will dim even if it is already at its lowest brightness level.
For more precise adjustments, you can find Decrease White Point under General> Accessibility> Display Adaptation. Turn it on and you will see a slider showing how much you want to decrease the screen brightness.
If you already have another function assigned to triple-pressing the Home button, you can still add Decrease White Point. Then, when you triple click, iOS will ask you what function you want. Great news for those of us who have already assigned a triple-click to toggle to grayscale, or to link someone to the same app while they lend your phone .
It would be great if you could add a button to the control center or home screen to make it even dimmer. But there seems to be no Decrease White Point action in the Shortcuts app. If you know of any other simple ways to trigger the effect, let us know. (There is another, older way to enable the extra-dim setting in the Settings app, but this is a longer workaround using the zoom feature, and it also doesn’t work in the Shortcuts app.)
