Get Apple to Repair Your IPhone, Even With a Third-Party Battery
If you’ve replaced your iPhone battery with a third-party battery and need to get your device repaired, you’re in luck: Apple will now service the iPhone using third-party batteries, MacRumors reports .
Employees at the Genius Bar and Apple Authorized Service Provider have historically ditched devices with most parts, leaving behind users who replaced their batteries outside of the Apple ecosystem.
Here are the guidelines for repairing your iPhone with a third-party battery:
- Battery- specific repairs: Apple will replace a third-party battery with an official Apple version and will charge a standard replacement fee. They can also replace your entire phone by replacing the battery under certain circumstances.
- Non-Battery Repairs: Apple will service the devices as usual and charge a standard repair fee.
These new rules only apply to devices with third party batteries. Apple will refuse to repair iPhone with most other parts, including motherboards, microphones, and headphone jacks (although it will allow some repairs for devices with third-party screens).
To initiate an authorized repair, contact Apple Support and select the product requiring service.
