National Parks Font Download Free
If you love fonts or national parks (or both), you’re in luck – you can download the font from park signs for free.
The iconic capital letters used by the National Park Service were not originally a typeface, according to Fast Company . The signs are made with a milling machine that cuts directly into the wood.
Designer and University of Kansas professor Jeremy Schellhorn worked in Rocky Mountain National Park in 2013, where he asked students in his Design Outside Studio to rub over characters to create a digital typeface.
To download the font, visit the project website . The .zip folder contains four .otf files of different densities: thin, regular, outline, and thick. Each font weight is composed of uppercase letters, lowercase letters, and numbers.
Double-click each file to install on MacOS. When the font installer opens, click the Install Font button to add the font to the font book. In Windows, right-click the font file and select Install or drag it to the Fonts folder in Control Panel> Appearance and Personalization.
The download is free, but the website accepts small donations for future projects.
