Learn a New Language by Watching Netflix
Trying to learn a new language but can’t find the time? Give your viewing experience a whole new purpose and learn the basics of Japanese, Spanish or German, a marathon show or a Netflix movie. Who Said Time on Netflix Should Be Unproductive?
Using the Google Chrome extension, Language Learning with Netflix , you can now use Netflix as a translator. How it works? After downloading the extension, you select the subtitles in the language you want to learn while the movie or show starts.
A dialogue will then appear below the movie in the language you are trying to learn, as well as its translation into the language you already speak. If you hover over a word, you will also see its various definitions (for example, reading some kind of dictionary entry). From now on, you can read the translation of the entire movie or TV show.
There are also some additional bonus features if you want to become a master of the language. If you are a beginner or intermediate level, you can choose the vocabulary level that suits you (as a beginner, difficult words that you can skip will be grayed out and simpler, simpler words will be used instead). And if it’s running too fast, you can slow down the subtitle playback or even automatically play each subtitle, which can add hours (or days?) To your movie’s viewing time. There’s also a directory of recommended high-quality movie subtitles if you’re unsure of what to watch and still want to learn a new language.
Without a doubt, it is a tool intended for those with some experience in any given language. It will be difficult for a beginner to start using just the extension. It is also limited to the available Netflix subtitle languages.

I would recommend using it for shows and movies you’ve already seen, instead of that new trendy Netflix original that you should check out. However, if you’re willing to take the time, this is an incredibly handy tool (and might only contribute to your addiction to Netflix).
