What’s in Store for and Out of Netflix in the Week of February 11, 2019
Look, I’m not making any promises about The Umbrella Academy , the last comic series to be released by Netflix Original (Thursday). It might be awful, but there’s something about the premise (alienated siblings with superpowers reunite after their father dies) and the trailer, which has a kind of fairytale filter and vague atmosphere of Wes Anderson (or at least a young actor in red -blue jacket that looks remarkably similar to Max Fischer), which makes me think it might be a delight. It was created by Jeremy Slater, who wrote Fantastic Four – which may contradict this – but Ellen Page plays one of the kids, which is intriguing.
I’m going to let you work hard and find out why Ken Chong’s stand-up “tribute to his wife” is called “ You Complete Me Ho” (Wednesday) . Come back to me when you find out, and also when you find out why “40 Year Old Virgin” (Friday) seems to come or go from Netflix every week.
