How to Link Your Fortnite Accounts on PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch
The time has finally come, Fortnite console fans. Epic has created a way to merge Epic accounts if you’ve created separate accounts on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and / or Nintendo Switch. If you purchased V-Bucks or items on a platform that you don’t regularly play with, you can now transfer everything to your main account.
Embarrassed? This is why Fortnite needed this feature. Before Sony launched the cross-platform multiplayer beta last fall, you had to create a separate Epic account to play Fortnite on PS4, even if you’ve already created an account on a different platform. And any progress or money you made in one account could not be transferred to another.
If you’ve changed platforms to play with your friends, or just found that you prefer one of them, you may have had to save some money and progress. Back in September last year, Sony allowed Fortnite to participate in cross-platform play, which resolved this account issue for new Fortnite players. But gamers who got stuck before were still stuck.
Epic’s Account Linking feature combines your purchases (and some game progress) with an account you regularly use and deletes any other account you created because it was necessary. You can then use that master account on any platform, as each version of Fortnite now allows you to play on multiple platforms.
To merge your accounts, simply go to the Epic Account Merge page and follow the instructions. I recommend that you select the account you want to keep before you start, so you can make sure you are signed in as the “Primary Account” in the first step of the merge process. You can only merge accounts linked to networks of game consoles – PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch – that were used at least once before September 28, 2018. You also cannot merge blocked or blocked accounts.
Merging accounts will carry over your V-Bucks and cosmetic items from Battle Royale. If you’ve played Saving the World, you’ll get experience, heroes, llamas, defenders, schematics, survivors, evolution, and perk materials for your sub account.
There are some things that cannot be transferred to a new account, such as the Battle Pass and Creative Maps. If you have an active Battle Pass or maps that you want to keep on the same platform, be sure to select it as your primary account to continue working. Your account level and progress in Save the World will also not be carried over.
Don’t worry if you don’t immediately see new items and / or V-Bucks in your unified account. Epic stated that it takes two weeks to transfer in-game items and V-Bucks from a Sub account to your main account.
