How to Stream Rentals: Live! Tonight
One of the most popular musicals of all time, Rent , will debut in your living room tonight for just one night. FOX is streaming Rent: Live! tonight at 8:00 pm ET with tape recorder delay for people in other time zones. The live broadcast will be hosted by Michael Greif, who directed the original stage version, and will starring Vanessa Hudgens, Jordan Fisher and Brandon Victor Dixon, among others.
If you want to watch the show, your easiest option is to just tune in to the TV at 8pm. Anyone with a basic set of cables for their region or a terrestrial antenna should be able to watch the live performance without any problems.
If you don’t have a TV but want to watch the show anyway, you have a variety of streaming options:
FOX
FOX offers live performances online as well as through its iOS and Android apps. You’ll need your login credentials to watch, which might make this option useless for those who don’t actually have a TV. However, if you can borrow a friend for the evening, you’re fine.
Streaming services
Most of the major streaming services offer FOX as an option. Hulu With Live TV, PlayStation Vue, DirecTV Now, YouTube TV, and Sling TV offer the channel as an option in most markets, and they all offer free trials.
If you haven’t used the streaming service before, you can sign up for a free trial to stream today’s show and then cancel the service after a week without paying.
Most of these services start at $ 40 per month, with the exception of Sling. The Sling’s Blue package comes with FOX and costs only $ 25 per month. If you think you might want to keep the streaming service you signed up for, or you’re someone who’s known to forget to cancel free trials, then Sling is your cheapest option.
Worth noting: Sling, like all streaming services, is only offered by FOX in “select markets”. If you subscribe to a streaming service, you must make sure your market is one of the ones it supports before the curtain comes.
