Be Sure to Upload Your Photos From Flickr This Weekend

If you have over 1000 photos uploaded to Flickr, you should upload them now, otherwise you risk losing them forever.

Back in April last year, Yahoo sold Flickr to SmugMug. In November, SmugMug announced that it plans to end the free unlimited image storage that Flickr offered users in January and instead limit users to 1,000 photo storage for free.

For people who don’t post that many photos on Flickr, it doesn’t really matter. If you have over 1000 images on Flickr, this is a really big deal. From February 5, these extra photos will be deleted, starting with the oldest ones.

If you don’t want to waste your extra photos, you have two options: you can create a Pro account for $ 50 a year, or you can upload those photos.

To upload yours, log into your account, then go to User Account and then Settings.

At the bottom of the page, you will see a button “Request my Flickr details”. Click on it and wait.

Flickr will compile all of your images into a Zip file or multiple Zip files depending on how many images you have. When everything is ready, you will receive an email with links to download them.

And when you download those photos, make sure you back them up somewhere, not just on your computer, so you don’t have to worry about losing them again.
