Buy This $ 1.7 Million Home for $ 19 and a Letter
Looking for a new home? It comes with a hefty discount.
This week, a homeowner from Alberta, Canada, announced that she would sell her home worth about $ 1.7 million in exchange for a $ 19 entry fee and a letter explaining why they deserve it.
Despite the wine cellar, library, chef’s kitchen, and lake views in the 5,000-square-foot home, homeowner Alla Wagner ran into trouble selling real estate, citing Alberta’s troubled real estate market.
In a post on Facebook, she described her health as a motivation to eventually sell it.
“We had to put my house on the list because of my poor health, which has been especially bad in the last 6 months or so,” she wrote in her post. “Being confined to only one (top) floor is becoming unbearable, and it affects my work and my life too much.”
A minimum of 68,000 letters are required for the contest to work (equivalent to $ 1.7 million in entry fees, estimated house value) – this is essentially a crowdfunded house, except there is only one donor receiving the prize. And if you’re wondering, yes, they’ll refund the entry fees if the contest doesn’t meet the letter minimum.
On her Facebook page, Wagner said she received 38 emails in one day, although that number is likely to increase in the coming weeks. If you have a chance, you can send the letter by mail or email before April 5th. They should come with a check or wire transfer confirmation for $ 25 CAD, or approximately $ 19 (hopefully your letter will be there. D suggest using certified mail). Address details can be found on the page of the contest in Facebook .
To apply, the letters must be 350 words long. A group of finalists will be selected and voted for on social media. This is an American real estate idol.
