Government Employees Can Get Free Tickets to the Metropolitan
While the government is shutting down, the Met is offering laid-off federal government employees the opportunity to get away for a bit in the form of a free show at the Met .
Federal employees affected by the ongoing closure can now get free tickets to all Met performances from today through January 31, 2019, except for the January 26 matinee, and they can bring a friend with them.
Eligible federal employees can reserve a couple of tickets per person per performance on the day of each performance. To receive it, the employee must either be physically present at the Metro ticket office, or call the ticket office at 212-362-6000.
As you can imagine, the number of places is also limited. A certain number of tickets are available for each performance.
Free tickets are available for 12 performances:

Adriana Lecouvreur of Cilea – 19, 23 and 26 January
Carmen Bizet – January 21 and 29
