How to Save Money on Your Trip to Disneyland in 2019
If your plans for 2019 include a trip to Disney, it’s worth planning ahead. Disney updated its ticketing system for 2019 so that multi-day tickets to the park now have a sliding scale and the ticket price depends on which day you plan your first visit to the park. If you plan it right, there are several ways to save money and still have fun.
Choose the right time
It might not shock you, but it’s cheaper to go to Disney in the offseason. For Disney, “off-season” is when children traditionally go to school. So if you’re trying to travel for Christmas, Thanksgiving, or summer vacation, you have to pay a hefty price tag for it (and deal with the clumsy crowd). Conversely, if your schedule allows you to travel during the school year, then savings can be made.
After analyzing ticket prices, Disney Travel & Leisure believes the best travel times are January, February and mid-August. Traveling during this time will save you around $ 13 per ticket. It states that overall September is the best month to travel, including Labor Day.
If you want to travel during the warmer months, T&L recommends traveling in the first half of May or at the end of July (after the 26th).
Plan for the future
Another thing that T&L noted was that planning ahead is worth planning. With Disney tickets, you have the option of purchasing tickets for specific days or flexible tickets where you can go any day. Five-day tickets, which you schedule the day in advance, range from $ 388 to $ 452, while a 5-day flexible ticket costs $ 460.
This means you can potentially save around $ 100 by simply planning your first day at the park ahead of time.
Rock Some Rewards
The Points Guy recently suggested using Disney gift cards as a way to save some money on a Disney vacation. The cards can be attached to your Disney account and used to pay for almost everything in the park, as well as park tickets, Disney hotels, and cruises.
The Points Guy offers stacked rewards when you buy them for the ultimate discount. For example, if you buy a card using Target REDcard, you can get a 5% discount. If you buy it through Target through the shopping portal, you can add an extra 1-2% to that.
