What’s in Store for and Out of Netflix in the Week of December 17, 2018

Call me simple, but I love Ellen DeGeneres’ special stand-up, her first in 15 years (Tuesday). Her New York Times profile sounds like she takes off her gloves and becomes real with us America. Did you know that she doesn’t like it when strangers come up to her and try to get her to dance with them? She is just like us!

There are so many Rando Netflix originals on Friday that there must be something good in there, right? My constant self-monologue, sung by an imaginary Netflix marketing manager, says, “We have one week of the year left! It’s time to ditch all those weird shows we bought cheaply in other countries and hope the sleepless people visiting their families on vacation are desperate enough to watch them! “Watch the German TV series” Spirits “, in which” the singer was found murdered with the scent glands removed from her body “! Or Casketeers , in which Maori funeral directors “hold back the good humor with care and respect, helping Polynesian families cope with their loss.” (I’m really going to watch this.)

If you’d rather just curl up in front of a macabre dystopian movie starring America’s beloved John Malkovich, Bird Box also debuts on Friday. Sandra Bullock is a co-star in the film.
