Choose the New MoviePass Subscription That’s Right for You
MoviePass is changing its subscription model again in the new year, and users in major markets can look forward to additional charges for their monthly subscription.
The company, faced with many challenges with its pricing model and core features of its app, announced that starting January 1, customers will have three subscription options based on their market:
- Choose : Three 2D movies per month, excluding the first movies on weekends.
- Full Access : Any three 2D movies per month, including weekends kick-off.
- Red Carpet : Any three films per month, including opening weekend titles. One of these three films can be in IMAX 2D, IMAX 3D, or a supported Premium large format.
According to a press release, each plan offers three films a month and is geared towards “regular moviegoers.”
As for the monthly cost, it will depend on where you live:
According to Quartz , zones are subscriber zip codes, with major cities such as New York and Los Angeles being the most expensive zones. A MoviePass spokesperson wrote in an email that “Chicago will be an example of the middle zone and Des Moines will be the lower zone.”
