What Are Your Best Butter Tips and Tricks?
Last night, while watching my stepmother prepare dinner, I noticed a plate – not a plate or a bowl – but a plate of ghee. She then dipped slices of French bread in a puddle of butter, covering them completely from edge to edge before tossing them into the fried oven.
This is obviously a good trick that never crossed my mind. It got me thinking about other oil blind spots I might have, so I asked the other staff if they were sitting on any delicious oily knowledge. (They were.)
- Virginia : I just grease it straight off the stick – sort of rubbing it in like glue instead of cutting off the pieces. (Claire’s note: This is how I grease pans and pans.)
- Beth : I put my buttered tortillas BETWEEN two freshly toasted slices and let them sit for a minute. Then I rub the two toasts together to spread everything around – perfect melting and 100% coverage.
- Melissa : My trick for butter is not to freeze the oil , but maybe use an OIL BELL .
- A. A. Newton : To prevent the oil from freezing , wrap it at least twice.
Since butter is an important part of everyone’s life, I would venture to suggest that you all probably have some great tips and tricks for melting, storing, and distributing near-perfect foods that we would love to hear. (Another oily tip that changed my life? Wrap Rescue .)
