How to Use Google Assistant With Siri Shortcuts on Your IPhone
Google Assistant received a small update on iOS this week, adding support for Siri shortcuts. Now you can record a phrase like “Ok Google” in Siri, and then with that phrase open the Google Assistant app on your phone.
It won’t quite make Google Assistant feel like a native on your phone, but it will take you one step closer.
The update also lets you customize Siri shortcuts for the phrases you use the most with Google Assistant. For example, if you have some smart home things set up through Google, you can set up certain phrases in Siri that control your smart home devices through Google Home.
For example, you can set up an app to say “Turn off my lights,” and Siri will talk to Google Assistant to control smart lighting in your home.
It’s not quite as good as truly native iOS integration, but it’s a good start and makes Google / Apple a lot smoother.
To use the new feature, you need to have the latest version of the iOS Assistant downloaded to your device.
