Add Some Shine on a Weekend With a Cranberry Syringe
Happy weekend everyone, and welcome back to Happy 3 Ingredient Hour , a weekly drinks column featuring very simple yet delicious libations. This week we are being seasoned with one of my favorite holiday flavors – cranberries.
Last year we used a wavy turkey tip to make a citrus sipper satsuma , but this time I wanted to make it a little more festive by adding bubbles. Unlike our previous cranberry shake, this one pairs best with a fairly sweet homemade sauce (like a blueberry mixture ) rather than tin jelly. If mixed with gin and poured over with sparkling wine, you get “French 75”, only more suitable for the season. To make it you will need:
- 1 1/2 ounce gin
- 1 tablespoon cranberry sauce
- 3 ounces of sparkling wine
Mix the cranberry sauce and the sauce (gin) in an ice shaker and shake until the shaker is unpleasantly cold. Strain through a fine mesh sieve and pour over the sparkling wine. Garnish with frozen cranberries if you have any.
