The Most Wallet-Friendly Holiday Destinations

Vacations can be stressful, especially if you have to travel. My annual trip home is always a delicate balance: I can reasonably leave San Francisco, but still afford a plane ticket. Prices from San Francisco to North Carolina can range from a few hundred dollars to a few thousand depending on when you are traveling.

Although I need to travel to visit my family, some of my friends who have family all year round use their vacation time to travel, often with this family, on group vacations. This is something that I have always envied to some extent (this year the tree is bound to have new clues).

If you’re looking to plan a little family vacation this year, Kayak recently released a report detailing the cheapest (but still desirable) places to do so.

He generally recommends booking flights for Thanksgiving and New Years eight weeks in advance, and four weeks in advance for domestic flights for Christmas and five for international flights.

If you’re looking for a deal, here are the top 10 wallet-friendly destinations this year based on average prices from November to January:

1.Toronto, Canada

2 Boston, Massachusetts

3 Orlando, Florida

4 Las Vegas, Nevada

5. New York, New York

6. Atlanta, Georgia

7. Charleston, South Carolina

8 Vancouver, Canada

9 Chicago, Illinois

10 Nashville, Tennessee

And if you want to travel this holiday season, it’s always worth setting up a travel alert (kayak or otherwise) for your preferred destination to make sure you’re getting the best deal.
