Sweeten Your Maraschino Daiquiri Instead of Syrup
Happy weekend everyone, and welcome back to Happy 3 Ingredient Hour , a weekly drinks column featuring very simple yet delicious libations. This week we are mixing daiquiri with a slightly different flavor using my best friend, maraschino liqueur.
This is not really my idea. One evening while doing important drink research at the somewhat new Palomar restaurant , I noticed that their menu had a daiquiri sweetened with cherry and aromatic Luxardo maraschino almonds. I was inspired but hesitated to write about this drink at first, mainly because I gave you a whole bunch of maraschino cocktails lately. But if I still haven’t figured out my bottle, you probably haven’t worked yours and – spoiler alert – maraschino daiquiris are very good.
I originally wanted to make mine with lime, but absentmindedly grabbed the lemon and didn’t realize my mistake with citrus until it was “too late.” However, after tasting it, I don’t know if I can classify this as a bug at all. To do it yourself, you will need:
- 2 ounces light rum
- 1 oz Luxardo maraschino
- 3/4 ounce lemon (or lime) juice
Mix everything in a shaker with ice and shake until cool. Strain into a glass compartment and enjoy.
