What’s in Store for and Out of Netflix in the Week of September 17, 2018
What I’m most excited about this week is a weird limited series called Maniac by Carey Joji Fukunagi ( Beasts Without a Nation, True Detective, It). Emma Stone and Jonah Hill acted as patients in a “mind-blowing pharmaceutical trial that ended in failure.” They seem to hallucinate in a lot of wacky situations, allowing a lot of different costumes, wigs, and prostheses to be used, which is always a good thing.
It would be an oversight if I didn’t even point out that Tony Danza and Josh Groban are starring in the father-son duo in Good Cop. Tony is a “crooked but kind-hearted dad,” Josh plays a “pathologically honest detective.” What kind of jokes might follow?
