Freeze Spoons of Cookie Dough and Eat Fresh Cookies on a Whim
In terms of mundane pleasures, fresh, soft cookies with perfectly crispy edges and sticky chocolate chips are hard to beat. While there is nothing wrong with cooking – and eating – a dozen bakers a night, you may be the type of person who has “impulse control” and you only want to enjoy one or two cookies a day. If so, the best gift you can give yourself is a bag of pre-portioned frozen cookie dough.
This idea, which Joanna Goddard posted on her Instagram , would be a great gift for a hostess, but would also be a great gift for you . All you have to do is make two batches of dough – if you are going to bake the entire batch now because you are not a monster – bake the first batch and scoop ( or chop ) the cookie-sized pieces from the second batch. on a baking sheet covered with parchment. Place the baking sheet in the freezer until the dough hardens, then transfer the pre-cookies to a large freezer bag. What you do with its content after that is up to you. You can bake one or two cookies at a time, as directed, reducing the cooking time by a few minutes, or you can simply eat chunks of frozen dough, which is what I usually do.
