Be Mindful of the Time You Spend Online With HabitLab

You might want to spend less time on sites like Facebook and YouTube, but it can actually be a bit of a daunting task at times. HabitLab – is a project of Stanford’s open-source, which is trying to simplify a little reduction in the number of sites, causing addiction.

How this happens is a bit unique. Instead of just blocking sites you want to stay away from, the Chrome extension uses tools like feed blockers and hide comments to help you cut costs.

To use it, you first have to tell it what you want to cut. You can add any site or service, but they’re built to support things like Gmail, Netflix, YouTube, and Reddit. Every time you visit a site that you told the extension you want to shrink, it will use artificial intelligence to select an intervention that will help shorten the time you spend there.

For example, when you visit Facebook, it may hide comments on your friend’s posts. On YouTube, it can pause the video and prompt you to do something else.

Over time, he learns which measures are best for you and focuses on the ones that will move forward. This does not stop you from visiting or using these sites, but it does make you more mindful of the time you spend on them.

In addition, since this is a Stanford University research project, you also agree to slightly opt out of confidentiality when using it. Anonymized data about the impact of the intrusion on your browsing is usually sent to the people who created the extension. You can; however, do not do this when configuring the extension, as well as in the future, but be aware of this.
