How to Fix Chrome Checkboxes and Buttons on MacOS Mojave

This is a rather specific problem, but annoying. If you’re playing around with Apple’s latest public beta of macOS Mojave – at the time of this writing – and you’re a big Chrome fan, you might be wondering where your checkboxes and (some) website buttons have gone.

Try. Go to any website that asks you to check one or the other to create an account and you will find that you don’t actually see the checkboxes mentioned. You can click on the approximate area where they are and the selection will register, you just won’t be able to see it. This is a nasty problem at best, but it really makes some sites difficult to use – unless you like clicking everywhere in the hope that you have checked the specified box.

There are two quick fixes to this annoying problem. First, you can install this extension , which should return checkboxes and buttons all over the place. Just remember to uninstall it as soon as macOS Mojave (or Chrome) fixes the issue, because it’s always good to keep your browser extensions in order.

If you don’t feel like messing around with this, the second solution is even easier: hold down the Command key and press the Plus or Minus key on your keyboard. You will shrink orenlarge the size of the website you areviewing , which will magically restore everything.

If you’re curious, this is only a Chrome issue for now. Both Firefox and Safari display checkboxes and buttons correctly – at least for every site I’ve tested.
