Summer Reading List From All Summer Reading Lists

This is summer, the only season that for some reason gets its “readers”. Choose a book for the beach, park, or air-conditioned Starbucks dinner table with this collection of 20 years of reading lists from major publications compiled by Metafilter user Fizz.

They have Reading Lists from Vulture, New Yorker, Vanity Fair, and our sister sci-fi site io9. Ironically, they don’t have a Lifehacker Summer 2018 Reading List that includes our readers’ comments on which books they are reading this summer. ( Our 2017 list is good too.)

We’ve found even more summer reading lists:

We asked writer Maris Kreitzman, co-author of the Vulture Summer Reading List (and former editorial director of the Book of the Month Club), what makes summer reading different from any other good reading. “Absolutely nothing other than the publication date,” she says. Of course, as with movies, publishers often schedule books for the right time of year. Personally, our favorite summer readings are escapist, fun and – because of the big bag and pool friendliness – always in paperback.

“One of the benefits of summer was that we had more light to read every day.” | MetaFilter
