Trade Online With PriceWaiter for Google Chrome
Chrome. The PriceWaiter extension – a discretionary pricing system that sounds too good to be true at first – is currently only available for Chrome. (Sorry Firefox users.) And when you install the extension, you probably won’t notice … absolutely nothing, at least not at first.
If you’re lucky – and it took me a while to find the right product on the right site – you’ll get a big pink pop-up bar at the top of your browser. If so, break your knuckles because it’s time to start shopping (and pruning).
The point of PriceWaiter is to specify the maximum amount you are willing to pay for a particular product. Presumably, this is a much smaller number than what you see on the site where you shop. Enter your low amount, click “Make Offer,” and you will be prompted for additional information: your email address, postal code for shipping, and any other important information the third party retailer needs to know. to get exactly the item you want.
Click Submit Offer and PriceWaiter will check the service network to see if any sellers are willing to meet you at that price. According to CNET purchases , it seems like you can be pretty unreasonable and still be successful:
For example, I found a pair of RayBan Wayfarer sunglasses on Amazon . Price: $ 143. Well, I can’t pay that much for a pair of sunglasses, so I made a super low offer via PriceWaiter: $ 50.
The next day, a supplier called Gaffos responded with a counter offer: $ 85, a 40 percent savings. I then checked the Gaffos site, assuming it was the regular price. Nope! Usually I would pay $ 143 there too.
You are not required to actually make a purchase for any seller who makes an offer to you. And you should also be aware that the seller willing to accept your price – or hopefully willing to accommodate you – may not be the site you originally made your purchases on. So don’t rely on Amazon shopping protection, for example if you use PriceWaiter to try and shorten one of its product listings while you’re browsing.
While I found PriceWaiter a little lacking in matching products, the extension itself is quite unobtrusive and worth leaving in the background of your browser – at least for a few weeks – while you shop. If you’re lucky, you will save some money. Otherwise, you probably won’t even remember that PriceWaiter is present until the next time you uninstall your Chrome extensions.
