Best Credit Cards for Grocery and Restaurant Rewards

Food is the third-largest spending item for American households, which means that if you don’t maximize your cash outflows for groceries and dining out, you may be missing out on a significant amount of money.

Welcome to Cheap Chow Week ! Food is now more expensive than ever, and it might seem like the only cost-effective options are fast food or instant ramen. But it doesn’t have to be that way. This week, we’ll show you how to buy, prepare, and eat food in a cost-effective way without sacrificing pleasure or taste.

To that end, the best restaurant cards offer about two points per dollar spent, Credit Karma said Greg Johnson, a credit card expert at Club Thrifty . But there are those that offer even more generous rewards.

Here are the top cards by Credit Karma , NerdWallet, and Points Guy :

  • Capital One Savor Cash Rewards Credit Card : Earn three percent cashback on eligible purchases at restaurants (including Starbucks) and two percent on groceries. Plus no foreign transaction fees if you’re a foodie on the go.
  • Chase Sapphire Reserve : Earn three points by dining out in restaurants. But look out for the $ 450 annual fee. (Chase Sapphire Preferred isn’t bad either.)
  • Map Costco Anywhere : return of three percent and two percent of the power to all Costco purchases, plus four per cent for gasoline and one per cent on the rest. Perfect for anyone who does all of their shopping at Costco, but there are better options on this list if you don’t.
  • PNC Cash Rewards Card : Earn three percent on meals, two percent on groceries, and four percent at gas stations.
  • Uber Visa : Earn four percent back on eligible purchases at restaurants, including restaurants, bars, UberEATS deliveries, and fast food outlets. You will also get three percent back on certain hotels and flights, two percent on eligible online purchases, and one percent on everything else.

Obviously, there are many other factors besides restaurants to consider when applying for a credit card, and many of the above require a good or good credit history. But if you are responsible for your money, there are tons of good options to choose from to maximize your cashback.
