How to Watch the World Cup (Even Without TV)

The World Championship officially starts today and will run until July 15th. The United States didn’t do it this year, but 32 other countries did it, and next month is going to be pretty big in the world of soccer (or soccer, depending on who you are).

If you want to watch this year’s competition, you can see 38 games on FOX where all you need is a broadcast antenna. The remaining 26 games will air on Fox Sports 1, which requires a cable, satellite or streaming subscription to access.

TV antenna

This is by far the cheapest and easiest way to watch some of the FIFA World Cups, but you will only be able to watch games that are streamed on FOX – FS1 games will still require a cable subscription.

Streaming

No matter how fast your streaming options are, you always have options. Sling TV, Hulu with Live TV, PSVue and YouTube TV offer both FOX and FS1. They all also offer free trials, which will allow you to play some of the games, but not all of them. If you only want to watch one movie, try the free trial.

In terms of subscriptions, the cheapest one is Sling, at $ 25 a month (for its Blue service). Combined with the free trial, you can go through one $ 25 payment. Sling also offers a World Sport channel package that you can use to watch all of the games for just $ 10 a month. However, there is one catch with this sports option: all games will be streamed in Portuguese.
