How to Customize the Memories You See on Facebook

If you’re tired of seeing all these “this day” posts on Facebook, you’ll hate the latest Facebook update. This week, the social network launched a new page ” Memories” , in fact, an expanded version of the “This Day” feature, where you have the pleasure of remembering that hamburger that you ate a year ago today, or the time when you posted this drunk selfie.

However, there are things that we all would rather not remember. For example, you may not want to be reminded of what you did with your ex or the death of a family member. For situations like this, Facebook offers options to filter specific people and dates from On This Day messages.

To do this, go here and click the “Settings” button at the top of the page. From there, a pop-up menu will appear where you can add people and dates that you don’t want to remember. Once they appear on the list, they will be excluded from future memory dumps such as your personal Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

And if you don’t like the idea of looking back at all, you can also turn off Facebook This Day notifications. To do this, click the button marked “Notifications” at the top of the page to uncheck the box (or set it to “Highlights” if you only want to see your best memories with “best friends”). Your Memories will still appear on a specific Memories page, but they will be tracked (or missing) in your News Feed.
