How to Squeeze Lemon or Lime Juice Right Away

Whether you are squeezing lime juice for a daiquiri or making a large batch of lemonade from whole lemons , the whole squeeze can take a toll on your hands. There is, of course, an easier way, and it includes everyone’s favorite bakeware.

That’s right, we’re talking about your bench mixer . To squeeze out a whole mess of citrus fruits, all you have to do is a quarter of the fruit and toss it into the mixer bowl. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap, turn on the mixer low and let the paddle attachment do its thing. After the juice has been extracted and the rind looks battered, pour everything into a strainer or colander to remove the rind and seeds, pressing as needed to collect every last drop. Besides juicing, you can also use the mixer as a giant traveler. If you want to make a large batch of caipirinhas , for example, just add half a lime and two teaspoons of sugar for each person who wants to eat it. Whisk the sugar-coated limes, transfer the citrus-sweet mixture to glasses with ice, and add two ounces of cachaça to each glass.
