How to Turn Off Annoying Facebook Fundraising Notifications
I understand that we all want to contribute to something bigger than ourselves, and it’s great to see more people “donate birthdays” to charity. This usually includes an announcement on Facebook that your birthday is coming up, picking a not-too-crazy number to fundraise for your favorite charity, and watching the money come in – coupled with a few helpful reminders as your friends are lazy and might use a little encouragement to part with your money.
The problem, however, is that these “give me money” requests get a little annoying, especially when you get multiple fundraising notifications in which you never said that you were interested. And it’s okay to turn off the molestation without feeling like Scrooge. McDuck. You shouldn’t feel obligated to sacrifice anything if you don’t want to. If you want to give your buddies a cute postcard for their big days, that’s great.
To revoke Friends’ charity notifications from your Facebook party, open the Facebook settings menu . Once there, click on ” Notifications” and select ” On Facebook .” (You can also access this screen by clicking Settings after clicking the notification bell icon on any Facebook page.) Find the Fundraising option and click the Edit button next to it.
From here, you can choose whether you want to receive notifications about the specific fundraisers you have specified that you are interested in, or you can simply turn off all notifications. (I suspect most will need the latter.)
Once you have made your selection, click the “x” in the upper right corner to close the window. You can then leave that notification settings page entirely, or play around a bit and tweak Facebook updates so the service works for you instead of pestering you. Consider your settings a birthday present.
