What Did You Find on Your Fitness Trail Adventure?

It’s been a month since we started looking for fitness trails, parkour or outdoor workout equipment in a park near you. The one in my park is great for a full body workout and I run it weekly. What have you found?

This month I ran the course every Monday, usually doing two loops, which takes about 40 minutes. And I’ve definitely made progress. At first I had to catch my breath for a minute after each repetition of the jumping zigzag , but during the last workout I was able to do it three times in a row.

And on this last visit (which I promise you won’t actually be my last), I even took my eight-year-old son with me. Pro tip: Don’t tell your kids this is a workout, but tell them it’s an obstacle course . We took turns turning on some equipment, and I lifted it to the bar. He liked the balancer – my favorite too – and he was looking for fish in the stream that we cross between stations 11 and 12. At about 14 he begged to go home, but at the end he asked when we could return again.

I hope we’re not the only ones enjoying exploring the area this month. Have you found a retro fitness trail, and if not, have you found a playground or other equipment suitable for a good workout? Have you tried any new moves that you haven’t tried before? Remember to compare your first ride to the track with your last – if you could do it faster, or take more moves, or take less rest, it’s all a win.

Update 05/30/2018 4:57 PM: Earlier, we illustrated this post with images of people walking along the train tracks. Do not do this. This is dangerous.
