Use the Washington Post Vacation Search Engine to Plan Your Next Trip
Feel the urge to leave the city, but don’t know where you want to go. The Washington Post Vacation Finder asks a series of questions (domestic or overseas? Warm or cool?) To help narrow down your vacation priorities, then suggests a few of them. directions for consideration. You will receive several travel deals, but you will also get a few places that you might not have considered as holiday options.
When I took the quiz, my potential vacation spots included New York, Savannah, and Breezewood, PA – and after reading the Washington Post article on cycling in Breezewood , I got the urge to plan the trip.
Not sure what you want from your vacation? Skip the quiz and select the “I’m Lucky” option. My results included everything from Benda, Oregon to Braicino, Macedonia.
Part of the fun of looking for vacations is imagining you are traveling to cities you may have never heard of, let alone thinking about visiting. Did I immediately imagine that I was eating spicy aivar on the shore of a Macedonian mountain lake? Absolutely. (Did I have any idea what aivar was until I read the description in the Washington Post ? No.)
The only option that seems to be missing from the quiz – and from Vacation Finder in general – is budget . Yes, many trips can be customized to suit your individual needs and spending priorities, but it would be nice to get a list of lower cost destinations.
That said, whether you’re planning a vacation or just dreaming about it, the Vacation Finder app is well worth the trip.
