Moleskine Productivity App Makes Organizing Easy and Fun
I’ve managed to stay relatively organized for most of my life with nothing but a memory of my own, but I’ve recently started using Apple’s Reminders app to keep track of my main work and personal tasks. It gets the job done, but it’s not very fun to use. I didn’t even realize that entertainment was an option until I tested out Moleskin’s excellent iOS productivity app, Actions .
Inspired by a recent Fast Company article, I downloaded Actions and started spinning. The first thing I noticed was the design. It’s beautiful, clean and simple – the kind of minimalist software that Apple is supposed to create, but can’t figure out what it is these days.
Actions are also extremely easy to use. The app opens directly to your schedule. Click the big plus button in the upper right corner to add a new task, give it a name and add it to the list (action names for different task categories) if you like. That’s all. There is no need to set a due date or add additional information. All the application needs to start is a short description of your task.
Once you’ve added a few tasks, you can go back to the home screen and start scheduling. Just click on a task and drag it to the date it needs to be completed, whether it is today, tomorrow, Friday, or “later.” You can also drag any task to the lower right corner to place it in one of the colored lists.
Finally, to add more lists, just click that bottom right button. From there, you can create new categories and choose a color for each one.
That’s pretty much it. You do a lot of tasks, set a bunch of deadlines, and then go back to your life. It’s all simple, intuitive and fun. As an added bonus, it also syncs with the Moleskine calendar app and works with Siri voice control.
There is no official version of Actions for Android yet, but you can sign up for beta testing Actions on Android right here .
