How to Level up in Fortnite Without Killing Anyone
Playing Fortnite is a lot of fun without punching holes or kissing the infinity gauntlets of other players. Looking for a weapon? Exciting. Cut down trees? Calming like Ron Swanson. Looking for items on the map? Just think how much fun they will not use when the other player guesses bullets for you from the middle of the map.
The thing is, a lot of people are too good at Fortnite. Combine that with the game’s sometimes finicky combat system, and actually killing someone, especially if you’re new to Fortnite, can seem incredibly difficult at times. You may also be concerned that the lack of skills in the Death Fight department will prevent you from leveling up and unlocking special outfits, dance moves, and other makeup. Fortunately, there is another way to do this.
Fortnite offers new challenges each week to help you earn XP and level up your character. Most of these involve shooting other players, but there are a few exceptions. In the list below, you’ll find five Fortnite Challenges from the current season of the game that you can complete without killing anyone.
These challenges will not only help you unlock special items, they will also push you to explore new parts of the Fortnite map and give you a compelling reason to avoid collisions with other players. You have until the end of Season 4 (July 9th) to complete the job. Good luck!
1) Find rubber ducks
There are roughly 20 rubber ducks hidden across the expansive Fortnite map, and your job is to find them. You will need to hunt down 10 ducks to complete this mission. You don’t have to do all of this in one game, but you do need to end each match (either win or die) for it to count.
Finding these ducks is not easy. They are small and often hide behind other objects, but you don’t have to search for them yourself. GameRevolution has put together a handy map showing the locations of 10 different ducks to help you finish the game in no time.
2) Dance in front of the camera
This challenge will make you run around the map in search of seven movie cameras. Once you find each camera, all you have to do is dance in front of it by pressing the down button on your controller (or B if you are playing on a computer).
These cameras are large, but still difficult to spot from a distance. It’s best to use a fan-made map to guide you. This one from Inverse shows the locations of 10 different cameras (remember, you only need seven to get the reward).
3) FORTNITE
If you can write the name of the game you are playing, you can solve this problem. Your task here is to collect the eight letters that make up the word “Fortnite”.
These letters can be displayed at 15 different points on the map and you will always find the next letter you need no matter where you go. Use this IGN guide to find them quickly.
4) Take some hop stones
Fortnite Season 4 has added an interesting new item to the game: Hops . These fragments of extraterrestrial comets can be found scattered across the map, but their greatest concentration is in Dusty Divot (that massive hole in the ground located right in the center of the island).
To complete this quest, you need to grab seven hop stones. As an added bonus, each stone gives you a temporary anti-gravity boost, allowing you to travel long distances in one jump until it disappears.
5) use port
Fortnite’s Port-a-Fort is a pretty cool item. Just toss it to the ground and a defense tower will sprout out of nowhere, giving you a large metal shield you can hide behind as you shoot your enemies.
The hardest part of this task is finding Port-a-Fort. There is no map here to help you. Instead, you’ll just have to look for weapons until you’re lucky. But once you find it, all you have to do is use it and you’re done.
