Where to Spend Time on the Internet
Where do you go to spend your time on the Internet? Facebook and Twitter, the usual default responses, are boring. Scrolling through them seems to work. “I don’t know how to spend time on the Internet anymore ,” says Dan Nosovitz in Select All, a blog on Internet culture. We agree with him that it’s too easy to fall into the trap of boring and negative social feed. But we disagree that there are no fun, crazy places left on the Internet. If you’ve forgotten how to waste your time online, give these sites a try and pass the hours with pleasure.
Just a warning though: the funniest parts of the internet are sometimes the NSFW.
Tumblr
Not many people use Tumblr these days, but those that remain are funny nuts. To find them, start with a few aggregated Tumblrs: by Ryan Hates This (the author of the article , devoted to Internet culture BuzzFeed Ryan Broderick), or ERARG , or the Sound Designer Jeans . These blogs are spreading tons of weird shit from all over Tumblr, most of which don’t make sense, just like the classic Internet. Ryan Hates. It looks more like “connected” stories and memes, while ERARG and SDJ are more quirky.
Between these three, you will see reports of culinary challenges BDSM Alton Brown , the leaning tower of Jager bombs , a song in the style of Belle and Sebastian of mint candy , vulgar debate about chocolate milk , man, which loses 12:00 progress video games , and a nightmarish remix of «Mr. Sandman. “
Other, less quirky (but still funny) Tumblrs that are still popular include Shit My Players Say (a collection of funny stories about Dungeons and Dragons); linguistics blogs Lyrics, Language, and Anything Linguistic , and weird art blogs Absolute Science Fiction , 70s Sci-Fi Art , Tales From Weirdland, and Tomorrow & Beyond “ . These blogs mostly post original posts, but occasional reblogs are another good way to fall into the Tumblr pit.

TV Trails
I don’t know why people don’t talk all the time about this site, which explores all the “tropes” – common storytelling elements, good or bad – in all forms of art and entertainment. I read it every time I finish a book, movie or film . I read it when I need an educational introduction to a topic like history, science, or politics, without the dry language of Wikipedia and the tendency to ignore funny moments. And each time I open twenty more entries in new tabs. And since it looks like this kind of education, I don’t even feel bad about the time I spent on it.
