Stop Paying Your Bank for Paper Statements

We all hate the overdraft and fees through ATMs that dispense consumers in an average of $ 150 a year , but there is another bank fee, which you may not even know: from 1 to 5 dollars for a variety of paper-based statements, rather than the electronic versions.

For example, paper statements cost TD Bank customers $ 1, while the US bank charges $ 2 and Bank of America charges you $ 5 if you request a printout of the statement.

According to Consumer’s Union, this is also true of paper credit card statements for some brands for retailers, including Ann Taylor, Dress Barn, and Victoria’s Secret, as well as wireless companies such as T-Mobile.

You can avoid this by either switching to electronic statements or, in some cases, if you have certain types of checking accounts. According to the Consumer Union, if a retailer charges you for a paper statement, you can file a complaint with the FTC.
