Stay Away From YouTube With New Take a Break Feature
YouTube video: you can’t watch just one . This is not your fault. YouTube does a great job at your task, constantly offering personalized suggestions (and an aggressive autoplay system).
Now, thanks to a new update, YouTube has finally admitted that too much good can be bad. Here’s how to use the new Remind Me Take A Break feature to curb your YouTube addiction.
The first thing you need to do is make sure you have the latest version of YouTube for iOS or Android installed. Before you get distracted by the latest Marvel fan theory (or whatever YouTube algorithm you’re interested in), click on your avatar in the upper right corner. Click on Settings and you should see a new option called Remind me to take a break.
Click on that option and you can set YouTube to send you a friendly reminder to stop watching your phone after a set amount of time (options range from 15 minutes to two hours). You can now go back to watching Fortnite videos (or cooking guides, or whatever else you might like) knowing that YouTube has your back – unless you ignore its notification because you’re too busy watching videos.
