The Best Call Recorder for Skype Is Ecamm Call Recorder

I’m a journalist. (Sort of.) I have to record a lot of calls to supplement my records. When I make Skype calls, I use Ecamm Call Recorder , a simple yet fully functional Mac-only Skype extension.

Call Recorder (the equivalent of the app’s name “The Band”) automatically opens when Skype opens, which is very important because otherwise I would have forgotten to start recording. What’s more, you can tell Call Recorder to start recording every time you call. (To avoid file clutter, the application can reject short calls.)

This is useful for recording important conversations, interviews, or podcasts. It costs a hefty $ 39.95, but if you frequently record Skype conversations, it’s well worth it. The license works on multiple devices and includes all future app updates. Call Recorder is also available for FaceTime for $ 39.95.

Call Recorder does not warn anyone during a conversation about your presence, so you can record without paying attention to the interlocutor. But informing them about it is polite and ethical. If you plan to secretly record a call, check your local laws to know what you are getting yourself into.

Writing is one of those basic functions that a source application should have; maybe Skype just doesn’t want people to worry about being recorded. It’s as if someone is still waiting for seclusion these days.
