How to See Answers at Friends HQ and Prevent Random Players From Finding You
Be delighted, “HQuties”. The popular quiz app that you probably stopped playing a few months ago because it took you ages to win and you only got $ 2.14 adds a lot of social to the game today – and in the future every Friday game. You should now be able to see the completely fake answers your friends choose if they choose to share their guesses.
These new features only work on iOS at the time of this writing, but we hope HQ will provide Android users with a timely update ahead of today’s game.
To participate, dust off the headquarters and open the app before today’s first game (noon PST, 3:00 pm ET). Click on the person-shaped icon with a plus sign in the upper-left corner of the main application screen.
When you do, HQ will ask you if you would like to “connect with your HQ friends” by giving the app access to your address book. Forget about privacy concerns and click on the big purple button and then give HQ permission to access your contacts. Now you will see a mix of suggested friends – those who already play HQ and friends you can invite to play the trivia game.
Ignore the latter, because no one likes an invite spammer. For those who are already playing, just click the Add button next to their names. The app will send them a request, and if they log in before today’s game, you might get some fast connections.
Now, when playing every Friday in the HQ game, you will be prompted to place an icon next to any answer you choose. When you do, your friends will be able to see your choice if they are playing, and then it will be easier to mock you when you don’t answer the second question.
HQ also introduces a new Nearby Players feature, which aims to let you see which random strangers in your usual place are also doing the little things. To access it, just swipe right across the screen while playing – that’s all.
More importantly, to delete your account that other random people can see, click on the three-dot icon on the HQ home page. There, uncheck the box (automatically enabled for you) to make yourself “nearby discoverable”.
