What Small Daily Habits Have Greatly Influenced Your Financial Life?
Managing money reliably requires more than just making coffee, but there are many small things we do every day that go a long way towards our overall financial health .
One of the ones I’ve written about before is getting daily text updates with my balances every day and emails summarizing my actions. I don’t always check my email, but this is a good reminder on days when my spending is over the top.
Plus, apps like Trim , Clarity Money, and Credit Karma have made it easier and easier to check various aspects of my financial life – subscriptions I pay for, credit ratings, etc.
I also started carrying cash around with me as wine cellars and coffee carts in NYC usually only accept cash or have a minimum before you can use your card. That means you could add juices and water to get $ 8 when you really need a $ 3 BEC but only have a dollar and a change with you.
And, of course, I read a lot of material about money to find out what is there, so I come across a lot of interesting ideas and alternative ways of thinking about financial situations, which are beneficial in the long run. (More recently, I loved this article by an old colleague, and I found this story, from an Uber driver who had a pay increase, entertaining and informative.)
And you? What little things have you done that have improved your financial life?
