Make a Double Boiler With a Bowl and Chopsticks
Setting up a steamer is critical when you’re gently heating foods like chocolate, custard eggs, or certain sauces, but I don’t heat gently enough to buy one, and you probably won’t either. Fortunately, you can make it from what you already have; all you need is a pot, bowl and chopstick or wooden spoon.
Simply boil some water in a saucepan and place a glass or metal bowl on top with a chopstick or wooden spoon in between to release the steam. (This is important, otherwise the steam will build up and escape in the strongest possible way.) Place the tender foods in a bowl and let the not boiling water underwater indirectly heat the food.
