As of today, the Hopper travel app offers secret fares on international flights – a new exclusive site feature that claims to offer flights 35 percent cheaper than those you can find on other sites, including other discounters on ticket sales.
Hopper says the discounts are exclusive because they are part of a special partnership with airlines, a partnership in which airlines are open thanks to Hopper’s mobile online platform. The idea is that if Delta lowers the cost of the flight on its site by $ 100, then American and United could see the discount and equalize it by starting a price war rather than an instant deal.
While it’s not entirely bad for consumers (I personally would love it if airlines fought to get me the cheapest flights), it’s not ideal for airlines, which means they often don’t, or at least don’t. discounts, because as much as they are supposedly willing to make through Hopper.
At launch, Secret Rates will be available on over 60,000 different routes including Paris, Tokyo and Barcelona.
