Wear a Jumpsuit to Keep Yourself Safe From Thieves
I had just returned from a two week vacation in Europe and I did it wiser. Not only did I spend some time at Oxford University and learn how to make a towering soufflé at Julia Child’s own home, but I also learned that overalls are the key to preventing pickpocketing.
As you may or may not know, I’m a huge fan of bib overalls and wear them almost all the time. However, on the flight from Portland to Paris, I thought it would be more comfortable for me in sweatpants, so I decided to carry the wallet in a shoulder bag, which I carry around my chest like a necklace. It was stupid. In my many hours of trance as I traveled, the bag swayed slightly behind me, and after a few minutes I ran out of cash.
Fortunately, whoever took the money dropped my wallet, but all of this could have been prevented if I had been wearing a bib and hiding my things in my breast pocket. Although I’m rarely aware of what is happening behind my back, I always notice that someone is taking steps towards my chest, especially if they are unbuttoning something. Learn from my mistake, that’s what I say, and hide the important things in your bib.
