What Will Your Checkbook Balance Be in 2018?
Before, you would sit down once a month with your bank statement, receipts and check register and check if all your deposits and withdrawals matched.
Those were simpler times before online scams became ubiquitous, and apps like Mint made budgeting easier – or at least apps made it easier to keep track of your spending. Banks now make fewer mistakes, most transactions are instantaneous, and we have access to our account balance and list of transactions at almost any time. Balancing a checkbook? Who needs it in 2018.
However, we still need to verify (no pun intended ) our accounts to make sure everything is in order and we do not receive any scams or overdraft fees . Personally, I get text messages and check my bank statements every month and that’s about it. I have a checkbook, but I rarely use it. If so, it is for rent or because I owe family members – who will remain nameless but refuse to download P2P apps – money. Not to mention the check.
So, are you balancing on your checkbook? If not, what system do you use to check your financial accounts?
